CAPTAIN EDWARD MARTIN SCOTT RD** MNM FNI RNR

I was educated near the South Coast of England, which gave me a love of the sea. I started my naval carer with a 1 year cadetship at Warsash Maritime Academy 1959, followed by10 years Deck Officer in the Royal Mail Lines. The company was the premier and oldest British company running to South America, North America and the Caribbean with passenger and cargo vessels. After this I spent 17 years (12 in Command) with Sealink passenger ferries running from the South Coast to Channel Iles and Cherbourg, then 2½ years Captain of James Sherwood's Orient Express cruise ferry running weekly service from Venice to Piraeus, Istanbul, Kusadasi, Patmos and Katakolon. It is the largest vessel to transit the Corinth canal. I spent a season in command of government research vessel in the Arctic Ocean.

For 12 years I commanded Holland America Line's Windstar Cruises, cruising Mediterranean, Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean, Panama, Venezuela, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, Costa Rica, Pacific Ocean, French Polynesia.

I also spent 37 years List 1 RNR from Midshipman to Captain, serving on aircraft carriers, frigates, assault ships and minelayers. Many exercises went to Northern Norway for Amphibious Warfare, aimed at keeping the Russians out of Norway. Other facts about my history include:
