CHRISTOPHER D. HELME B.E.M. RETIRED POLICE OFFICER, AUTHOR REGULAR SPEAKER FOR OVER 30 YEARS

Serving Police Officer in the West Yorkshire Police for just over 30 years (1970-2001), a ‘Local Bobby’ and Home Office Trained Crime Prevention Officer for all his service. In 1990 awarded the British Empire Medal for service to the community.

Since 1986 he has self published 3 books and a further 5 local history books commissioned and published and currently working on a new commission. Taught local history classes for 25 years and for the last eight years he has taught older people the mysteries of the mobile phone, basic computers for older users and for jobseekers. He is also a facilitator for reminiscence groups.

He has written a weekly nostalgia column in his local newspaper for 28 years and written numerous other stories for regional magazines and brass band nostalgia stories for both the printed word and the internet. Founder, editor and publisher of the biannual West and North Yorkshire speaker directories since 1997. Since 1997 Chris has produced and presented a brass band radio programme which is aired on four different local community radio stations including one in New Zealand. He has also been asked to compere a number of concerts over the years. Chris has been a regular speaker for 30 years.
