Time Served Mechanical Engineer. ONC, HNC Mechanical Engineering. 8 years spent in Industry.

In 1984 joined Cumbria Police as a regular officer. Post Training and the recommendations of Hungerford, I joined the dedicated firearms team. Duties included protection of the Home Secretary/Deputy Prime Minister.

I spent 10 years with a Tactical Support Group/Specialist Firearms Unit and Public Disorder Response (Riot Police).

Instructor/Trainer, Trainer of Trainers and Director of Studies.

I have been seconded to 6 Forces in the UK to assist with Public Disorder Training and Tactical Advice.Served with UNMIK – United Nations Mission in Kosovo – and the OSCE – Organisation for Security and Co-Operation in Europe. I spent a full year instructing firearms and teaching at the Kosovo Police Training School.

In my final 6 years of Police Service I trained as a Counter Terrorism Security Advisor under the Protective Security Strand of Civil Contingencies, delivering Initiatives on behalf of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office – NaCTSO – to UK businesses and industry.

I have 18 Awards and Commendations including bravery and saving life from fire.
